OK, so I've heard about airlines cracking down on overweight passengers and now my fear is at a higher level because of this story.
I haven't flown since last winter because I was at the end of my pregnancy and then was doing the newborn thing. But I'm **really** nervous about an upcoming trip in March. Right now I weigh 233.5. I'm sure I've flown a little heavier than that and not gotten kicked off. I can probably lose another 8-9 pounds before the March trip. Anyone here flown at 225 and had any problems?
I'm going with my husband's entire family and our two older children. I will die a thousand deaths if I get kicked off the plane for being too fat in front of all of them.
You should be totally fine! We flew to San Antonio back in October and I was right around 240 or so then and didn't have any issues. When I took a trip to Hawaii a couple years ago and I was 280...that was uncomfortable, but no getting kicked off :) Again, at the weight that you are at now, you should be just fine!
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready to fly in march and I will probably be in the 240's...I flew this In January and was 260-something...and had no issues....I dont think it should be an issue.. :)
ReplyDeleteI flew at 280 and nobody bothered me. You'll be fine!!!
ReplyDeleteomigosh, I was reading that Kevin Smith story the other day, and read all of his tweets..that was so horrible!
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready to fly in March as well..and have been nervous as well. I am trying to lose as much weight as I can by then..
I flew 3 times last year around 230- 240lbs and didn't have a problem. You should be fine!
ReplyDeleteHey Kristin you will be fine. I can tell you that when I was near 240 and flying in these little prop and commuter jets that sit 1 and 2 across the aisle (you know the kind that you have to go out to the tarmac to board) it was a tight fit for me. 727/737 are also tight.. But you will be fine.. it' always nice to feel that difference in the seat after you loose a few pounds though.. It used to drive me nuts on my coast to coast flights whent he skinny girls would pull both legs up on the seat and have enough room for a saint bernard dog to sit next to them.. Poor things. I hope the belt could cinch tight so they didn't fly out during turbulence. I always new my fat ass was staying put. anyway.. be well
ReplyDeleteI understand your concerns but I am sure like evryone has said you will be fine...and weigh even less by then!!
ReplyDeleteKristen - you'll be fine. We flew SW to Disney last September and I was 240. I had no problems and could even buckle the seat belt!
ReplyDeleteThat story is crazy! I'd be so pissed if I was him! You will be fine! I've flown a kajillion times and I was over 300 (there I said it.... Have never put my weight on my blog or anyone elses for that matter!) you will be fine!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristin, from what everyone said-- looks like you'll be OK!!!
ReplyDeleteHang in there.
I just flew to/from my surgery at 270 on Southwest, the airline with the smallest seats known to man. I had to stretch that seatbelt across, though! Check out Seatguru.com if you're really worried-- it has the seat widths of most airlines on it.
