Today I'm seven weeks out from surgery, and it's time for an honest evaluation.
The stats:
Highest weight: 266 (10.6.09)
Surgery day weight: 253 (1.4.10)
Lowest weight so far: 233.5 (2.14.10)
Current weight: 238 (2.22.10)
Total lost: 28 pounds (I'm not changing my damn ticker).
Lost since surgery: 15 pounds.
What I'm doing well:
Eating protein first.
Eating solid foods primarily and avoiding slider foods/caloric beverages.
Not drinking with meals.
Waiting at least 30 minutes to drink after eating.
Staying away from bread.
Limiting wine to Friday and Saturday nights only.
What I'm not doing well:
Staying away from candy, specifically chocolate.
Exercising (partially because of my foot injury).
Avoiding food after dinner. I think I need an across-the-board, nothing-in-my-mouth-but-water rule after dinner.
Logging my daily food intake.
Seems pretty clear what I need to do.

Kristin, if we were all perfect we wouldn't have the band.. realize the progress here.. you know what you need to work on.. if you can limit the chocolate to an occasional treat fine. if you are eating it in the closet throw it out.. don't sabotage yourself. I know you have small children, but my after dinner trick is to get crocked on my spiked tea (brandY).. I always fall asleep .. re: loggin daily food.. check out that website mydailyplate. it is so cool.. I really like it. but now I am down to a 900 cal limit. I don't know what I will do..
ReplyDeleteBreaking habits is sooooo hard!!!
ReplyDeletePersonally I'm REALLY struggling not to drink with my meals - I miss it so bad!
One thing you could maybe give a go is eating a couple of squares of high quality DARK chocolate when you get a sweet craving. It's supposed to have all sorts of health benefits. Though I believe you have to get one that is above 65% cocoa! And because it is a such a strong taste you won't want to over indulge :-)
Hang in there - you have made amazing progress already :-)
Well, sure, there are things we can ALWAYS do to improve ourselves but look at what you are doing!!!! Especially the changes you have made in such a short time - pat yourself on the back, girl.. you really are doing well.
ReplyDelete28 pounds loss is so great - it really is.. and I never change my ticker either - it's my lowest weight and there it stays even if I shoot up a touch, because I know I will get back to it and even lower eventually. :)
Kristin, you're doing great-- please ease up on yourself, things WILL come together. Just wait until you hit that 'sweet spot' which WILL come. Until then, do your best and forget the rest.
ReplyDeleteYou've already improved your health by 28 pounds and more will follow. Hang in there band sista.

Focusing on a committment to one change at a time helps (not that you let the other things slide, but making one thing a focus until it becomes habit helped me...then I battled another). Restriction helps a LOT!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing great!
ReplyDeleteknowing is half the battle :)
You are doing so many things right so just focus on one small thing to change from your Can do better list. Like no candy for a week or even a few days. What a great idea to bring focus to what you are doing
