Catching Up

Today is the last day of the Summer Meltdown Challenge. Confession: Despite the record heat, there wasn't much melting here. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong. For a while there I had a big chocolate thing going on, but that has subsided. I've cut back on wine. I eat very little meat. I guess I'm just still eating too much of the things I do eat. Gilly has mentioned on several occasions that she's terrified of stretching her pouch. I think I need some of Gilly's fear. Or Joey's workout prowess. Or something. A little discipline goes a long way, Kristin.

My surgeon told me to come see him after Labor Day, and I guess I'll be ready for a small fill then.

Also, I've been terrible at commenting on your blogs lately. I'm reading, although last week was intermittent with the family and puppies visiting. But I'm trying to get back into gear and be more engaged with the band babes.

In other, more positive news, I wore my Banana Republic sweater set to dinner with the Hubs on Friday night. Sorry about the weird lighting.

And, finally, our two adorable furry little houseguests went back to Guiding Eyes for the Blind on Friday. We loved having them here, despite the workload and alarming depletion of newspapers from our recycle bin.

Godspeed, Sheldon and Saffron!

  1. You're looking great Kristin and those puppies are adorable. It must have been hard to say goodbye to them.

On the weight front I don't think you're doing anything wrong. My losses never follow a nice downward pattern. It always bounces around when I hit a new low.

You're doing great, keep fighting the good fight as Amy W would say.

Don't you fret.. you are ALWAYS commenting and now and then we all need a break.. and I love those little puppy shots.. hang in there.
I think we all cycle on the good bandster, bad bandster....my exercise drive has fallen off.. but I am going to get back into it.. I am going to hit the treadmill this evening, take a hot shower and start the new week with a fresh plan. Just remember where you (both you and I ) where last year at this time.. and today is so much better a place to be.. hugs to you.

  12. K-- ease up on my girl, really now.
Look at me-- losing 1/2 a pound a week on average... sometimes it goes slow or stalls. That's how weight loss works.
You could be losing weight at a few ounces at a time right now-- can you look back at what you weight 1 month ago and see any difference? If not, then you're at some sort of plateau. But if you have lost, and it is slower-- so be it.
Let's assume you've plateaued-- I have 2 things to offer:
    1) Don't worry, it will happen to you again and means nothing about your overall weight loss success in the grand scheme of things
    2) I recommend EATING MEAT. You need to either puree or essentially puree it to get it down-- but it is the MOST FILLING thing from my perspective.

If you could eat a small ground beef burger with a little bit of mushy veggies, I bet that would hold you for hours. AND you could have a small bit of chocolate if that hits your cravings.

I may be saying stuff you already know-- but I saw you say you're NOT eating meat and I've read that meat is the best and it works great for me.

  13. Ack: spelling error above that kills me-- "Look back at what you 'weighed" not "weight.'
