OSCAR OSCAR! (And, My Thighs Are Burning)

***NYC BRUNCH UPDATE AT RIGHT.***

It's my favorite night of the year - Oscar red carpet night. We're hosting 16 of my husband's relatives for dinner, followed by a red carpet viewing party. Door prize to the first guest who spots cellulite or forehead movement on any presenter or nominee.

Please let me know in the comments what your favorite parts are. What do you think of James Franco and Anne Hathaway? Whose dress is awesome? Which star is most obviously under the influence of an illegal substance? These are the things we must discuss.

So I'm cooking, cooking, cooking and getting ready for the onslaught tonight. But in a good way.

In other news, I'm feeling better, mostly because of the kindness and rationality and compassion from your comments. You really know how to give a girl hope. Thank you.

I'm continuing my gym visits (but going at 11 am tomorrow because I want to watch the Oscars wtihout having to wake up at 5.30 am), and I have five workouts scheduled for this week. I'm not sure I'll be able to make it to all of them. My thighs are KILLING me from yesterday's session. I woke up this morning and as I walked downstairs I had a flashback to the day after I ran 26.2 miles in 1999. My thighs were just as sore, even though I didn't run at all yesterday. Must discuss with trainer.

Anyway, I went for a beautiful walk at the beach this morning, cut a little short by a recalcitrant toddler. It's a good day.

  1. Well you sound very 'UP'! I love it I wish I lived near you, i'd crash your party. You are definitely my kind of girl! I will be with you in spirit though, don't worry.

Its great that you have "scheduled" the gym into your week. Even if you don't make all visits, I think actually scheduling it helps to keep you focused. You will see results with this Kristin. I remember how hard it is to make "me" time when you have little ones around. You have done fabulous and you are such an inspiration to us all!

  2. I'd love to come to your party. I've never been to or hosted an Oscars party. It kind of sucks it's on a Sunday night. Most people don't want to party late on a Sunday. Based on the commercials, I'm really looking forward to James and Anne hosting the Oscars. The wardrobe malfunction scene cracks me up every time.

  4. I love it! My husband and I have had a standing date for years where we pick the winners ahead of time and make a bet to see who gets the most right. Always a nice fun evening making fun of everyone. BUT for the 2nd year in a row he's had a work thing that couldn't be moved so he just drove away for the airport and I'll be making fun of people all by myself - Don't think I won't come back here and randomly comment about things either!!!

  12. Loved James Franco: "Congratulations, nerds," after the technical awards thing with Marisa Tomei.

  13. James Franco's deadpan is a little too deadpan. Also, I wish someone would pinch his cheeks and give him a little color.

    Jennifer Hudson: GORGEOUS.

  15. Oh my goodness, I love Colin Firth.

  16. Colin Firth "I have some impulses I have to tend to back stage" - my favorite quote!

Halle Berry - the most beautiful human alive, and her dress was spectacular! Jennifer Hudson - amazing! I didn't like Cate Blanchette's dress at all.

  17. Nope, Cate Blanchett's dress looked like a chair. Not sure what to make of Nicole Kidman's, that whole weirdness in the hip area. Keith Urban's hair is ridiculous. Didn't like Natalie Portman's earrings or Amy Adams' necklace.

Now for the nice things: When I grow up I want to look exactly like Helen Mirren. Penelope Cruz's cups runneth over, and dayummm she looks great. Just had a baby. I liked Reese's dress. Halle Berry = stunning any day of the week.

Thanks for playing, ladies! This girl's going to bed. xoxo

  18. I love the oscars but have not been able to watch it yet. We had people stop by the house last night so we just hit record and will watch it tonight. I am glad you are feeling better and hope that you remember that we are each others support group and are here to help when anyone needs extra love and support.

  19. It's a big night for me too! Sadly, Nyquil won the battle, so I had to relive it on the web this morning!
