Trouble in River City

Hoooo boy, I need some help here. As we lingered over a dinner of leftovers and blended black bean soup (guess who had that), Houseguests mentioned that they are going to cook dinner for us tomorrow night.

Their favorite recipe: Pasta with truffle butter, and a nice loaf of crusty bread.

They're out at Whole Foods right now buying the ingredients.

Now, on a normal band day I could probably fake it with a few very small bites, maybe switching plates with Hubs halfway through. But I'm post-fill and supposed to be on liquids until Saturday.

What to do, what to do? Please advise. xoxo

  1. Have someone call you during dinner with an emergency.. I will call you.. this will distract the guests. Or Have hubs through the breaker to cause a power failure.. Or let a bat loose in the house.. that always causes a distraction.. or have an emergency dental appt during the day and be on strict doctors orders to only eat (drink) liquids.. sorry.. its the best I can do under such pressure.. but regardless I will be thinking of you

  3. I think I would have to have a bad case of intestinal dysentery...which will lead you to broth, jello and crackers all day. Truffle butter would be bad for someone suffering from "ass faucet" sorry I know that is crude but it made me giggle to type it. I need all the giggles I can get! Hope you come up with a way out of it. Ooo you could also feed your kids tons of sugar all day so they will be going crazy at dinner and you will have to chase them and not get to eat! Just another thought.

  4. Oh no, that's stressful! I like Barbara's suggestion of a low-level emergency call during dinner. You could give us all your number, and your phone would be blowing up. Ha!

Or the 'ass faucet' excuse! LOLing at Jen!

  6. I've been in similar situations, especially when clients insist on taking me out to eat. I tell them I have to have a "routine" medical test tomorrow and can only have clear liquids. So they think I am having a colonoscopy without me having to say it.

  7. I agree, just getting over a stomach bug and you still wanted to come over to enjoy their company. Hubby can still enjoy!

  8. Sweetness...I've never had a fill and been on liquids...even the day I got the fill. Soft foods (not mushies) that day, and then regular foods the next day. I'm sure a few bites would be fine.

  9. I usually go for feigning an illness. Although last time I pulled that one, people thought I was pregnant again!

  10. I like Barbara and Jen's suggestions. Flu bug or emergency distractions. The power failure would probably work too. Good luck!

  12. I agree with Gilly. You can also say you have a toothache and thats why you are not eating much. The stomach bug would be great but than they might not want to be near you even if you are recovering from one!

  13. I'm with Gilly too. I do mushies the day of a fill but otherwise eat normally. I like the phone call during dinner that is an 'emergency'.

  14. I like the "not feeling well" excuse.

I wanted to check in to see if you thought you'd be able to join us on Monday for brunch? Let me know! xoxo
