Three months after surgery, things are finally picking up on the weight-loss front. Here's how it has gone for me: Lost 13 pounds between October and surgery day, lost a bunch of weight right away following surgery and then BAM hit a wall. February was a dark month for me. Not enough restriction and not enough discipline = virtually no weight loss.
After my second fill on Feb. 25 I started losing weight again, and lost eight pounds between then and my fill on March 31st. My current fill, which is a little too tight, has put my weight loss on hyper drive. I've lost eight pounds in the last week, which is a little consolation for the fact that I can't really get solids down right now.
Total lost from presurgical consult: 40.5 pounds.
Total lost from surgery day: 27.5 pounds.
Other observations:
It really, truly is not easy. I've been on easier diets. This requires a lot of research, time, effort and thought on my part.
I owe many thanks to my fellow bloggers, who have provided so much wisdom, sympathy, guidance and humor on this life-changing journey. Finding all of you, and discovering the world of blogging, is something I never considered when I was looking into this surgery.
Resolutions:
Keep blogging.
Start exercising.
After I hit 199, start running again. I've been so afraid to screw up my 37-year-old knees and feet (still working on my foot injury) that I haven't wanted to get running again. But I've downloaded C25K and I am ready to go once I hit 199.
Happy Easter, my friends.
Holy amazing progress girl!!! Wow. Sorry you are so tight-- that sucks....
ReplyDelete40 pounds is great.
By the way: I don't think your discipline had much to do with it, if I do say so. I had a shitty February too-- lost 1 pound. I think it is just the science of the band... we're getting there!!
40! WOW!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you and the 40 pounds gone forever. I too have been stalling and hope to pick up the pace after a fill this week. I just started back walking 3 miles almost every day and my feet are hurting a bit (I had plantar's fasciitis for almost a year). Start out slow and you'll get there.
ReplyDeleteKristin! I cant believe I wasnt following your blog! Most likely when you have commented on my blog before I thought it was a comment from one of the other Kristins! Thank God you said in your last comment on my blog that you had kids bc I realized it wasnt them! I am following now! Sorry :(
ReplyDeleteWay to go dear and I love your new resolution of keep blogging - cuz I'd miss you if you didn't. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome....you seem to be over your stuckness on the scales and in a big way too!!! Hope that band loosens up soon
ReplyDeleteYou are doing just great! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! 40lbs!! Around 40lbs I really realized the band IS going to work, you have to work it but my goodness it feels good when you start making progress. You are doing great!
ReplyDeleteYahooooooooo! You are a rockstar my friend! 40 is fabulous!!!! Congrats!
ReplyDelete40 lbs is amazing. Keep up the great work, remember this moment when you hit another wall.
ReplyDeleteRight on! That is great. And plans for C25K, even better! Personally, I think you could start even earlier...I did C25K starting at about 220 I think...years ago...It should really kickstart your weight loss - along with that tight band!
ReplyDeleteI am slightly jealous of your uber-restriction. My last fill did not do much. A little less hungry but an entire bagel (scraped) yesterday? Really? Just a week or so after a fill? Not quite right...
So have a lovely day and enjoy the losses and the spring weather!
40 pounds! That's awesome - congratulations :-)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and am really enjoying it. Congrats on the 40 down too! I had my band surgery on January 19th and am down 35 pounds so far. Just had a small unfill last week because I was miserable.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to go back and read all of your posts. You are doing great!
awesome! congrats :-) keep up the great work
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all your experiences - the ups and the downs. Helps us who are not banded to understand what we are in for.
