When I first heard about the trip, I thought, "AWESOME! How cool is this going to be!"
And then I thought about it more and I started to get nervous. Bonnie posted about this as well. What if we all show up and it's awkward (seems unlikely if Draz, Jenny, Amy W and Joey are going, but still...)? What if I snore and keep my roommate up all night and she hates me?
But the more I think about it, the more I think HELL YEAH we're gonna have fun. If the Hubs reports that I'm still snoring a few weeks or a month from now, I'll get my own room.
I've only been to Chicago a few times -- once in 8th grade to visit a friend I met at Space Camp (!), once for a wedding in the 'burbs and a few years ago for a funeral.
I love the 5K idea, and with five months' notice I think I could pull it off.
What time do we think people will be arriving on Friday and leaving Sunday? Just wondering as a general guide when looking for flights.

I'm so jealous everyone is heading to chicago! Go figure that is the weekend all my girlfriends from THERE are coming HERE! (I lived there for 10+ years!) for my friend Margo's bachelorette! So bummed that I don't get to meet all y'all fabulous ladies!!!! You will have a great time and I'd bet that it'll be just meeting up with your long lost friends!!!

ReplyDeleteI think a few people are coming the night before (can't remember who). I am thinking getting there early (maybe 1 or 2), but it depends on my potential travel buddies.

ReplyDeleteYay! Can't wait to meet you!!!!! It will not be awkward, I promise. We all have plenty in common, and getting a weekend away from husbands/SOs/kids is a recipe for success no matter what! Plus, since we can't really eat, the cocktails will no doubt be in full force...
ReplyDeleteI think we all thought about the awkwardness but you know with over 30 people, we'll have a little something to talk about. I love the 5k idea-want to get outside. And who cares if the roomies snore, it's only a couple of nights. I might end up coming up Thursday and staying an extra day. Depends on other sites I might like to stay and see. Never been to Chicago. We'll all have fun. It'll be like first day at school when we all stare at each other. Cool. We're all a bit hesitant but will get through it together.

ReplyDeleteI am flying in on the Thursday morning (to give me time to get over the jetlag!) and leaving Tuesday morning to go to Disney(giving myself Monday to have a good look around Chicago)

ReplyDeleteMy biggest concern other than I may snore, is that I sleep with a Bi Pap Machine, so who ever bunked with me would have to listen to it, and even worse than that is, that I am gassy!! At night asleep, I wouldn't be able to control it! So our room would smell, to say the least!!
So maybe it is a good thing that I am not coming!! LOL
