Vanessa Said It All: Bandster Hell Lasts Too F-ing Long

So once again my band sister (Jan. 4, 2010 HOLLA!) Vanessa has kindly posted exactly what I've been thinking, feeling and fearing. Funny enough, her post refers to one written by Amy at Babbles of a Bandster. (As a newspaper reporter, I love when people credit their sources and avoid plagiarizing. We are an ethical group here.)

To recap: I'm almost at the three-month mark since surgery. My weight-loss has slowed to a snail's pace, I often find myself hungry and when willpower doesn't stop me from eating... well, my band doesn't seem to stop me either.

I just had a good-sized bowl of leftover truffle mac & cheese for breakfast. (Side note: Since being banded, I tend to have non-breakfast foods for breakfast, which I never did before.)

Naturally, I knew I shouldn't have this and could have made a far better choice. It was left over from the shower, not something I usually have around the house. But I did eat it, the whole thing, with no trouble. BRING ON THE FILL. One more week. I don't want to go to my surgeon and not show a loss. He seemed a little disappointed in me last time, although he was nice about it.

  1. Thanks for the shout.
It truly does seem that we're at a predictable, but irritating, point of the process... I know we'll get there.

  2. Hope this next fill helps you!! Do you shoot for 2,200 calories?? what do you think of the machine think it's accurate? I know it changes as we lose weight. I was thinking of doing it if I hit a plateau or when I get to goal.

  3. I so hope your next fill gets you closer to restriction, I know how badly BH stinks. The truffle mac and cheese does sound wonderful though.

  4. It does! I remember being 3 months out. It was like I didn't have a band at all. I hope your next fill gets you closer to good restriction. Trust me, it will happen and it will get easier!

  5. I'm almost at 5 months post op and I still feel like I'm in Bandster Hell sometimes!!! This whole lap band thing is challenging isn't it?? I know that you'll get restriction soon and all of this annoyance with the band will be a distant memory!!!

  6. I hear ya!! I completely understand the feeling.. the fill will fix that.. hang in there.. give yourself credit.. you are jumping through the bandster hoops to restriction.. everyone (well almost everyone) goes through this.. but in a fill or two you will look back and say hmm.. they told me it was coming...

  8. Glurk! Bandster hell is perfectly named. You're at that wishy washy stage where you have the band but its just not doing much. All I can say is 'hang in there!!'... not much bloody use I know, but things will start to move again soon. You just have to get that fill right.
