Mysteries of the Scale

I stepped on the scale this morning and it said I lost three pounds?! I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm delighted. It's kind of funny, though, how I blame any overnight gain on water retention, but never attribute crazy losses to dehydration.

Whatever. I'm counting it.

(I'm actually logging a 2.5 pound loss, because I stepped on and off the scale about 17 times and at the end it was consistently showing a 2.5 pound loss rather than three pounds. )

  1. I'm with Jen...a loss is a loss and 2.5 is a good one. Well done

  2. Don't even try to work out how the scale work.. it will do your head in lol. Those days we are SURE we will have gained we don't (had that myself this very morning.. badish food day - and yet lost.. go figure) and those times when we feel we SHOULD have lost because we are doing everything right - well, the bugger scale stays put.
Fantastic loss of 3 lbs. Nice going. x

  4. Doing great, Kristin.
A little unsolicited advice-- cause it's working for me:
I weigh myself every morning and log it in my written journal (that I started up about a week or so ago...I transferred all of my online records to it too, b/c I am compulsive!)

    I made a rule:
I get on the scale, record the HIGHEST weight, no matter what, then I'm allowed to weigh myself another time or even 10 times- but only the highest weight is "official" for the day.

This works for me b/c I get another chance in 1 day-- so I don't freak if my weight is up and I celebrate each new low when it comes.

I find myself jumping on and off MUCH less with this new strategy-- simply b/c I get to do a 'do-over' every day!!

    You're doing great!!!xoxo
