My surgeon's office called a little while ago. My pre-op test results were fine. I have to report to the hospital at 6.15 on Monday morning, nothing by mouth after midnight and clear liquids all day Sunday.
I am feeling calmer today about the changes ahead, thanks to reassurances from Vanessa and Nicole, and from the positive things I read on everyone's blogs.
Tonight we're going to dinner with some old friends who are in town for the holidays. They picked the place, and when I tried to check out the menu to see what I could order, I found: "There are no menus at [restaurant]. Instead, guests are presented with a list of over a hundred ingredients, updated daily, which contains the best offerings from the field and market."
So that'll be an adventure.
Kristin, GREAT news. Oh Dinner sounds like it will be fun!! Are you on a 1,100 calorie diet?
ReplyDeleteThey do that so you liver won't be fatty. But it looks like you are losing some for post op so you should be in good shape! (even if you splurge a little on dinner)
What a great time to get banded the first monday of january! a year to focus on YOU :)
Have fun-- I wish I could go out to eat right now... I am on the goddamn liquid pre-op diet and hating virtually every minute of it. Wah.
ReplyDeleteWell, almost there-- and I am hoping I'll be 'first case' too, that's what I asked for-- that would mean I need to be at the hospital around 6 am too, and operated on by around 8:15, done by hopefully 9am... we shall see. Just DAYS left.
Nicole, yep, you got it, I'm on a low-cal diet. My surgeon asked me to lose a few pounds before surgery. I'm down 12 now (from my first visit to him in October) so I'm hoping tonight doesn't do too much damage. I'm planning to try for some kind of fish. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteVanessa, I'm so sorry about the all-liquid. It totally sucks, but just think how much this will help your surgeon on Monday. Anything that can make the surgery shorter and easier is going to be a good thing for you. Fingers crossed that you'll be the first case on Monday. I think they scheduled me so early because I'm supposed to go home the same day, so they wanted to make sure I have time in recovery before I go. Are you planning to stay overnight? I'm a little nervous about coming home the same day but my mom and sister will be here and they're both nurses, so I'm sure all will be fine.
